Sunday June 9th, 2024 – The Macomb, MI Elks Lodge #2292 held their 1st Charity Car Show fundraiser in over 20 years. 64 Classic Cars participated in showing off their cars at the Lodge and a couple hundred visitors stopped in during the day. Supporting sponsors of the event were Metro Plumbing and Drain LLC, Hastings Auto Parts, Village Market of St Clair Shores and D&P Auto.
The Lodge Officers and Car Show committee members started planning back in early April, holding meetings almost weekly, putting in many hours planning and organizing the event, to ensure a successful event.
Well over 50 Volunteers, both Elks and non-members, worked throughout the day to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Elk Members from Ferndale Lodge 1588 also volunteered their time during the day, lodges supporting other lodges, we love it!. We provided Membership, Drug Awareness and Veteran Program education materials to both car show participants and patrons stopping in to view all the “cool” cars. Several membership applications were collected that day. Food and Beverages were supplied by our own House Committee. We also provided games, prizes and bounce houses for the kids, gift raffles for the adults, an ice cream truck and more.
Over $3,000 after expenses were raised that day. One half of the proceeds will be donated to Healing Choices, a community non-profit organization supporting the needs of victims of domestic abuse. The remaining funds will be donated to ENF and Major Projects. The event was so successful that many requests have been made to have another show in the Fall. We can’t wait to have another show, if not in the Fall, then definitely the same time next year.
