Saturday June 8th, 2024 – Macomb, MI Elks Lodge #2292 Exalted Ruler attended the 12th Annual Veterans Fishing Outing in Harbor Beach, Michigan. Exalted Ruler, Denise Allport volunteered to assist veterans on one of the Charter boats, as well as presented a donation of $500.00 from the Lodge to Kevin Ramsey, Event Chairperson. This event started 12 years ago, growing from 40 veterans attending in the first year to 130 veterans in 2024. Veterans are taken out for a morning of fishing on Lake Huron. More than 60 volunteer charter captains assisted the veterans during their morning of fishing by setting their lines, scaling their catch of the day and packaging it up for them to take home. 4,000 pounds of fish were caught that day!
A lavish lunch was provided, while volunteers mingled and met as many of the Veterans as they could, listening to their stories about their military life experiences. It was a great day to show our appreciation to these Veterans who served our country.
