Coldwater Lodge No. 1023 hosts a Smoker Night on the third Saturday of each month. On Saturday, March 21st, 2020, following the Major Project workshop, they will be offering a full rack of ribs, a half rack of ribs (shown) or a smoked half chicken. Each is served with potato salad and a homemade blend of beans in a barbecue sauce. (Substitution of sides is allowed)
So... join in the workshop at 2:00 PM – 4:00 and stay for dinner!
The dinner is served from 5:00 PM until gone.
Full rack of ribs is $23.99. ½ Rack is $12.99 and the half chicken is $10.99.
Regular menu items will also be available.
Reservations are not necessary but would be appreciated so we can be sure to cook enough of the ribs and chicken. 517-278-5558
Who should attend the Major Project Workshops and WHY?
Our goal is to have the Exalted Ruler and/OR the Major Project of EVERY Lodge (at a minimum) attend this event! Find one that works for YOU and join in for 2 hours of FUN!
We ENCOURAGE, ALL Members, Officers, Lady Elks and Spouses to attend!
WHY? This program, while designed to educate our Officers and Members about the Major Project, can be easily ADAPTED for the MANY Charitable endeavors AT YOUR LODGE!
WHAT is our bottom line? An engaged MEMBERSHIP!
If your Members are involved in YOUR Lodge Major Project they are more likely to become involved in other Lodge activities. BUT they need to KNOW what Major Project IS and how it WORKS! They need to KNOW how their donations make an impact and experience the pride when YOUR Lodge presents the gift of a Major Project Award to a child in your community.
Members will also realize the BENEFITS of participating in a State-wide Project shared by almost 20,000 Members! That is POWERFUL! Members who are engaged are a part of the bigger picture, have opportunities to learn more about Elkdom and our programs, opportunities to work within your Community and share the many things that Elks DO. When Members receive education about fundraising and how donations impact the lives of special needs children (and fill in the “blank” of whatever charitable works you are doing), your Lodge wins.
When YOU have an engaged MEMBERSHIP, you have a successful LODGE!

Michigan Elks Association Major Project Commission
Be a ray of sunshine for special needs children!!!!
About the Michigan Elks Association Major Project
Our Commission, established in 1957, was created to provide a way for the State Elks Association member lodges to be able to come together with all of the lodges throughout the state to provide assistance for children with special needs! One lodge alone cannot meet the needs, but TOGETHER, we can!
The Commission is made up of 6 duly elected District Commissioners, who serve a six-year term as well as the current State President (the voting members). The Michigan Elks Association 1st and 2nd Vice President’s and the Executive Director (who is responsible for the administration, marketing and communication arm of the Commission) round out the team (non-voting members).
This Commission works throughout the year to meet the needs of the children we all serve, meeting three times per year; our Annual Meeting (held in March/April), Spring Business meeting (held the 3rd week in May at the Spring Michigan Elks Convention), the Fall Business meeting (held the 3rd week in October at the Fall Michigan Elks Convention, as well as monthly Commission conference calls and daily/weekly emails.
If you are a parent in need of help for your child, or if you are an organization that would like more information about the Michigan Elks Association Major Project, please contact our Executive Director, Diane Dusendang, at 616-723-2763; email firstname.lastname@example.org or Major Project, PO Box 141605, Grand Rapids, MI 49514.
